Engines of Destiny This book is about what happened to Capt. Scott after being rescued from the crashed Jenolen. The story that is told here involves nearly everything every Star Trek TNG fan should like: Borg, time travelling, alternate universes and so on. This book is more or less Generations before the 7th movie but it also has quite a lot to do with another Star Trek movie ... enough! This is everything I can tell you without having to put a large spoiler warning on this post ;-)

  • Jade Empire

Jade Empire Boxshot Last Tuesday I finally finished Jade Empire so it's once again time for a small review ;-) If you don't know this game here comes a short introduction: You start as a student of a martial arts school somewhere in a fantasy far-east-inspired country called the Jade Empire. According to the other scholars and teachers you are the most gifted fighter in this place. Everything is calm and pieceful in this small area called "Two Rivers", but you hear stories from other students about restless ghosts desperately wandering around and going crazy... From now on you find yourself on a quest to bring piece to all these restless ghosts and to the Jade Empire as a whole ... or not. Right in this RPG by Bioware you can once again be either the good or bad guy. It's completely up to you how you solve the problems at hand and how you talk to the NPCs.

  • How to install PlanetPlanet

Posted on May 28, 2005 at 20:59 +0200 Tagged with

Since PlanetPlanet is the first item on my tasklist today I also thought about writting a small tutorial on how to install it :-) (Found nothing like that on the official site except in the package so perhaps this is not completely useless ;-)

  • Some plans for this weekend

First of all I want to start playing around with PlanetPlanet for Gamerslog.com. I once again grew a little bit tired of writing in 2 weblogs so I thought about a way to combine weblogs of multiple gamers into a single webpage for which purpose PlanetPlanet seems to be quite a nice option :-)

  • Firefox sidebar and Greasemonkey+Scrapbook

Posted on May 27, 2005 at 17:13 +0200 Tagged with

FF without sidebarYesterday I finally decided to install Greasemonkey to try Manuela Hoffmanns's del.icio.us style and everything went fine ... but then I had to restart Firefox and suddenly the bookmark sidebar was gone. There was nothing left but a blank widget and the title of the sidebar. Why do I mention Scrapbook in the title? After removing Greasemonkey and Scrapbook (which was updates yesterday) the bookmark sidebar worked again. Then I installed both extensions once again and everything worked... and today the sidebar is gone.

  • Nokia 770

Nokia today announced the Nokia 770 internet tablet which could be described as a bigger PDA without the PIM stuff (except e-mail) but with extended webbrowsing functionality. The nice little thing uses a Linux-based operating system and is planned to be released somewhen in the 3rd quarter of this year. Also the pricing is IMO quite okay with around 400EUR (according to Golem.de). The only feature that I'm really missing is PIM. Sorry, but for mobile internet access I'd normally prefer a sub-notebook. Sure, the price difference here is really huge but still... a handheld without PIM? Not really what I'm looking for.

  • Call for proposals for the EUOSCON 2005 closed

If you wanted to make a presentation proposal for the EUOSCON 2005 I hope you already did it, otherwise it's too late. Seems like this conference will be quite programming language centric... exactly what I've been waiting for :-) To bad that I have to make a trip to the Netherlands to get something like this, but I enjoyed my last vacation in Amsterdam anyway ;-) According to the current conference page registration will be opened somewhen in July. To bad. I wished the could already give some more details in June so that I can start booking flights, getting train tickets etc. I just hope that I'll still get a hotel room for that week :-?
